It is unclear whether or not the EZLN has really given up violence. What is clear; however, is that their message (in particular that of Subcomandante Marcos) is important. Marcos speaks primarily for the indigenous people of the Americas, but he seeks to defend all who are abused. For the sake of his important struggle, I hope that his word really is his weapon.
